Northern Examination and Assessment Board

In 1992 the NEAB began a policy of re-training all their staff in the major areas of IT and they approached CCET for advice, support and design for the training programme which they wished to implement.

Members of CCET have trained more than 95% of the 500-strong workforce in all of the Microsoft Office products, as well as high specification desktop publishing software using Apple Macintosh computers. Over the last five years, our involvement has extended beyond the area of training and into graphic design, examination processing, and even to the provision of maternity cover.

With the launch of Microsoft Office 97, this whole process began again in a Windows 95 environment, providing courses, which teach and support the many new features now available.

Assessment & Qualifications Alliance (AQA)

Students in a computer roomIn 1998 the UK's three largest academic and vocational awarding bodies - The NEAB, the Associated Examining Board (AEB), and City & Guilds - came together as the Assessment & Qualifications Alliance (AQA) for the delivery of GCSE, A level, and GNVQ awards in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

CCET has already been contracted to undertake various design activities including the new national syllabus design as well as PowerPoint presentations to promote this new body, and the generation of training materials for the new Oracle databases.

Colgate-Palmolive Limited

As CAMPUS members, Colgate-Palmolive approached the University for support and training in their Salford factory. As with the AQA/NEAB, the Centre provided a number of courses for staff at all levels in both word processing and the use of spreadsheets.
